Tips for Technical Set-up

Skype Set-Up:

  • Add Rachel.cohen.olsen to your Skype contacts
  • Volume: Adjust to 60%. Louder usually creates static/echo.
  •  If you are using a PC, I recommend you use/borrow a high definition webcam. MAC’s come w/ one. Choose a well lit room and someplace quiet.
  • Turn off any fans (eats up bandwidth)
  • If you are using a PC, plug an Ethernet cord into a land line for a better connection. MAC’s are okay w/out.
  • Do a video/audio test: Go into “Call” on top bar of screen and click on Audio Settings and then Video Settings. Adjust volume to 75% (blue ball). For video, make sure webcam is directly looking into your eyes or a little higher up. Use books under computer, if needed.
